About the Founder Babis Agelopoulos
Babis is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer with 47 years of experience in the shipping industry. He was born in 1953 in Piraeus and studied in Greece, where he was awarded his BEng and MSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, and his BEng in Great Britain and Diplom Ingenieure FH in Germany & Austria. His professional education in Greece and Germany, includes Business Administration, Planned Selling Management and Human Resources Management.
From 1969 to 1996 he gradually advanced as head of classification division for New Buildings and Repairs at Hellenic Shipyards Co. ''Skaramanga'' Yard, participating in major projects in key roles involving the areas of ship design, construction and operation, shipbuilding methods and management with ''Maierform S.A.'' (Geneva) for Mega Yachts design and construction, ''Austin & Pickersgill L.T.D.'' (England) for SD14 and Bulk carriers design and construction, ''Van der Ciessen'' (Rotterdam) for Tankers’ design and construction, ''Baasema L.T.D.'' (Glasgow) for Naval Vessels’ design and construction, ''Blohm + Voss Syd.'' (Hamburg) for Mega Yachts’ and Naval Vessels’ design and construction, Hellenic Navy (as supervisor of new building design division) for all Fram class (Henders) retrofitting, ''Combatants'' new building, ''Panagopoulos'' attack-boat new building, ''Danyard OPV's'' new building, ''MEKO 200'' frigates new building and ''MTG Marinetechnik'' for aerials electromagnetic combatibility. Furthermore, he worked with ''Dynacom Shipping Co'' as fleet manager, with ''Canfornav / Navarone Shipping Co'' as Technical and Project Manager for 20 New Buildings in China and with ''Stamco Ship Management Co L.T.D'' as Deputy Technical Manager.
Facing the demands of the new digitizing era in shipping, he worked with "Shipmanagement Expert Systems S.A. (SES)", with "Danaos Management Consultants S.A." as advisor for technical applications and with "American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Marine Services S.A." as Business Analyst for ''Safe-Net'' (NS5) software enhancement and implementation.
Since then and up to this point he has been working as contractor for top Shipping Companies and Offshore Drilling Contractors as advisor and Project Manager for the implementation of software packages (ERP technology) according to the legal accreditations (S&Q, ISM, ISO, TMSA, SIRE....) and Sarbanes/Oxley (SOX 404) requirements, as well as negotiator in projects with arab countries.
